I titled 2016 as my year of ‘becoming visible’. The more I looked at this statement from different angles, the more I realized that it’s not only about making myself visible, but even more about seeing ALL parts of myself: moments of glory and moments of sadness.
Yesterday I started wondering if the women of my maternal lineage had some of the same issues that I am facing today. Did my great-great-great-great-great grandmother have issue with ‘being visible’? What was safe for her show, what was destined to be looked up?

I don’t care whether meeting ancestors is a real thing or not. All I know is that it helped me welcoming my whole self a little bit more.
